Unable to have more than one ongoing compensation payment type at a time Merged

This feedback is lasting for a long period of time, across multiple customers

Summary of the feedback provided to us:

“We have multiple different ongoing components of how we remunerate our employees, but Sage HR allows showing only 1 at a time. We want you to allow tracking and displaying multiple ways how an individual (or multiple individuals) are being remunerated, within the same period.”

Proposed key capabilities to form the solution

  1. Allow supporting multiple ongoing compensations (of different types) in the same period

  2. Allow supporting varying periodicity of different compensation types (e.g. an employee may have:

    1. 1 compensation monthly (base salary)

    2. another 1 compensation monthly (sales commission)

    3. 1 quarterly (performance bonus)

    4. 1 single time (incentive, or a benefit, or another)

    5. another 1 single time (education assistance, or childcare assistance)

    6. 1 yearly (a bonus, a benefit, etc.)

  3. Support and expand tracking and displaying changes in employee compensations.

  4. Support displaying these changes in ee profile, exports, reports and in compensation chart(s) across the system

We need to find a data structure/solution that will cater globally for multiple compensation types.

To get creative

  • How to link displayed compensation with a Payslip?

  • Should any kind of comments appear on a Compensation?

  • What are some nice ways of displaying the compensation to an employee?

  • How would tracking the latest salary review work? (e.g. as an employee I want to see my latest Salary review)

  • How would it look on mobile?

Additional info
Some sample compensation types that may apply:

  1. Base Salary: This is the fixed amount of money paid to an employee regularly, typically monthly or bi-weekly. :info: We already support it.

  2. Hourly Wages: Instead of a fixed salary, some employees are paid based on the number of hours worked. :info: We don’t need to calculate the value per week or month, but we may want to find a way to display the hourly rate in a nice way? Suggestions welcome.

  3. Overtime Pay: Additional compensation provided for hours worked beyond the standard workweek or workday. :info: We don’t need to calculate the value per week or month, but we may want to find a way to display the hourly rate in a nice way? Suggestions welcome.

  4. Commissions: Compensation based on a percentage of sales or revenue generated by the employee. :info: Must be supported as parallel/recurring or one-time comp, and support some simple explanatory note (entered by admin/manager) way how commissions are calculated for given ee.

  5. Bonuses: One-time or periodic payments provided as a reward for achieving specific goals, such as meeting sales targets or project milestones. :info: Must be supported as a parallel/recurring compensation, additionally to current one-time.

  6. Retirement Plans: Contributions made by the employer to retirement accounts such as 401(k), pension plans, or other defined contribution or defined benefit plans. :info: Requires discovery with colleagues from US (Mike Hoon, David Nixon)

  7. Car or company assets: Employees are provided with a car or some other asset as part of their benefits. :info: Need to find way to display and describe it manually by admin/manager. Stretch goal: link to Assets feature.

  8. Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs): Counseling, financial planning, or other support services provided to employees for personal or work-related issues.

  9. Tuition Reimbursement: Compensation for educational expenses incurred by employees pursuing further education relevant to their job or career advancement.

  10. Health/Life Insurance: Coverage for medical, dental, and vision expenses, with the employer typically paying a portion of the premiums. :info: Need to find way to display and describe it manually by admin/manager - must align with a concept of displaying integrated Benefits. Stretch goal: allowing to track it.

  11. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) or Health Savings Accounts (HSAs): Pre-tax accounts that employees can use to pay for eligible medical expenses. :info: Need to find way to display and describe it manually by admin/manager - must align with a concept of displaying integrated Benefits.
Stretch goal: allowing to track it.

  12. Remote Work Benefits: Reimbursement for home office expenses, technology allowances, or flexible work schedules. :info: Need to find way to display and describe it manually by admin/manager - must align with a concept of displaying integrated Benefits.
Stretch goal: allowing to track it using Absences feature.

  13. Education Assistance: Reimbursement or direct payment for tuition, books, or other expenses related to continuing education or professional development. :info: Need to find way to display and describe it manually by admin/manager - must align with a concept of displaying integrated Benefits.

  14. Childcare Assistance: Subsidized or discounted childcare services, onsite daycare facilities, or contributions to childcare expenses. :info: Need to find way to display and describe it manually by admin/manager - must align with a concept of displaying integrated Benefits.
Stretch goal: allowing to track it using Children feature.

  15. Transportation Benefits: Subsidized or pre-tax commuter benefits for public transportation, parking expenses, or commuter bicycles. :info: Need to find way to display and describe it manually by admin/manager - must align with a concept of displaying integrated Benefits.
Stretch goal: allowing to track it.

  16. Perks, DIscounts, Subscription Wellness Programs: Subsidized gym memberships, wellness incentives, or access to health and wellness resources. :info: Need to find way to display and describe it manually by admin/manager - must align with a concept of displaying integrated Benefits.
Stretch goal: allowing to track it using API/Integrated Benefits

  17. Performance Awards: Non-monetary recognition such as plaques, certificates, or public acknowledgment for exceptional performance. :info: Need to find way to display and describe it manually by admin/manager - must align with a concept of displaying integrated Benefits.

    Feedback from Höh, Dennis

Topic salary: the monthly salary is made up of different components. For example, basic salary, company car. Both salary types are to start on 1 september.

However, Sage HR does not allow this, as both salary types are set as monthly consecutive. The error message Start date already assigned appears.
